Thorntons Wealth is proud to support Trilogy Cycling Club and their brand-new endurance mountain bike event, 5 at the Castle, held on Saturday 18th in the stunning grounds of Glamis Castle.

More than 50 riders took to the trails to compete in the first-ever MTB endurance event to be staged within the Glamis estate. Riders ranged in age from 18 through to their 60s, all battling it out over five hours to complete as many laps as possible of a fast, technical course.

Each lap was approximately six miles long, combining classic old-style singletrack with roots, rocks, and plenty of sharp little climbs and descents to keep riders on their toes. The setting could not have been more atmospheric. Glamis Castle has been the ancestral home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne for over 650 years, is famously associated with Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and was the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Racing through such historic woodland made the day truly special for everyone involved.

The event would not have been possible without the incredible support of Trilogy CC members, who gave up their time to help build the course on Friday and marshal throughout Saturday, ensuring the safety of both riders and members of the public.

With riders travelling from all over Scotland, feedback on the inaugural event has been overwhelmingly positive.  Trilogy hope to make 5 at the Castle a regular fixture in the years ahead, with ambitions to grow the event even further.

Thorntons Wealth is delighted to support local sport and community led events, particularly those that create opportunities for young riders to get involved and grow within the sport.   The podium photo captures the enthusiasm and achievement of these riders.   By backing initiatives such as the new Student category at 5 at the Castle, Thorntons Wealth is helping to encourage participation, confidence, and long‑term involvement in cycling, ensuring events like this continue to thrive in such an iconic Scottish setting.
